Hi everyone, we’re here to provide you with some great tips to help keep your flowers fresh and beautiful for as long as possible! There are tons of different rumors floating around the internet on how to keep flowers fresh for the longest time, but here’s what works for us consistently.
1. Keep flowers in a cool area, out of direct sunlight. Even though they need the sun to grow, since these flowers have been cut, the sun will cause faster wilting and encourage the development of bacteria in the vase.
2. Change water every 2 days! Stagnant water needs to be flushed to keep flowers healthy and drinking.
3. Re-cut the stems when you change the water! Cutting the stems allows water to travel more directly into the blooms, keeping them looking healthy and beautiful. Cut stems on a diagonal, and take about an inch off each time.
4. Remove dying foliage and flowers from your arrangement. Even a couple of dying flowers can breed bacteria that will cause your whole arrangement to droop faster.
If you follow these tips, you should still have 1 or two flowers still going strong after 2+ weeks! Once you have gotten down to the end of the arrangement, we recommend getting a small bud vase that can accommodate a smaller number of flowers. These really help to brighten up space such as your desk, a bedside table, or even the bathroom!
